Community Action of Greater Indianapolis (CAGI) announces its 2013 Club Millionaire Summer Camp, a program designed to educate today’s youth to become tomorrow’s financial leaders. The camp, which will be held at CAGI’s offices at 3266 N. Meridian Street in Indianapolis, targets youth ages 13-17 and teaches money principles such as pay yourself first; save early - save often; and it’s not how much you make, it’s how much you keep. The 5-day summer camps will begin on June 17 and run the weeks of June 17, June 24, July 8, July 22 and July 29. Camps are in session Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The program fee total is $50 per child. For those who qualify, scholarships are available to cover the program costs. Scholarship qualifications are based on the 2013 Energy Assistance program household and income guidelines. Payment for the camp is by cash or money order and should be included with each application.
The summer camps will utilize a curriculum that meets the current Indiana Department of Education financial literacy standards framework and may help students meet their financial literacy graduation requirement. Students will have an opportunity to earn prizes at each camp. To recognize their achievements, an awards and recognition reception will be held. Each student who completes the 5 day camp will be eligible for a chance to win a great prize.
