Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP)

The Emergency Food & Shelter Program is funded through FEMA and administered in the Central Indiana region by the United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI). CAGI became a Local Responsible Organization (LRO) in 2010 in order to provide EFSP benefits to eligible residents of Hendricks and Boone Counties. The local boards of these counties determined that CAGI’s fund should be allocated for rent or mortgage expenses.

Clients apply at the Boone or Hendricks County offices, and upon determination of eligibility full or partial rental or mortgage payments are made to their landlord or mortgage holder. The benefit is available to individual households only once per year.

NOTICE:  Currently, no funds have been allocated to CAGI from FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) to support this programming.  Consequently, no applications for benefits are being taken at this time.   Once the program is funded, applications will be accepted.
