As a longer-term solution to the problem of reducing the impact of energy costs on low-income households, EAP has a component which encourages eligible clients to participate in an educational process which focuses on energy conservation.
Clients may participate in the energy education classes, which include provision of an “energy savings kit” that contains fluorescent light bulbs to replace incandescent ones; water-saving shower heads, and faucet aerators. Clients receive instruction on how to use the energy-saving tools and other techniques they may employ to reduce their energy consumption and thereby their energy costs.
