CAGI’s Lead Remediation Assistance service is designed to assist landlords in remediating dangerous lead levels in their rental properties which are leased to low-income families. Federal law requires that such properties be tested for lead levels, and if the results indicate dangerous levels, that the problem be remediated or abated. The program permits landlords to alleviate a health hazard to eligible clients which might otherwise not be possible.
The Marion County Health Department, which monitors the program, performs the testing, provides the results to HUD, oversees the bidding process and selects a remediation contractor; CAGI monitors the remediation process.
