CAGI Weatherization Update

CAGI weatherization program serves close to 120 clients a year. Our weatherization program provides services such as furnace repair and/or replacement, insulation of walls and attics, also health and safety issues. The goal of weatherization is to lower energy consumption and to improve the comfort of clients in their in their homes.

On March 20, 2020 IHCDA halted weatherization production due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to COVID-19 CAGI was on target to completing 110 homes for the 2020 program year. At that time weatherization had 58 homes in the pipeline with 10 more homes to complete by April 1, 2020. From April 1, 2020 to October 1, 2020 weatherization needs to complete 42 homes which will bring our total to 110 for the program year.

On June 1, 2020 IHCDA released guidance stating that sub-grantees may provide in-home weatherization according to specific regulations in low-risk homes the day the county the home is located in reaches Stage 4 of Indiana’s Back on Track plan; and in all homes starting the day it reaches Stage 5. On August 12, 2020 IHCDA amended guidance stating that sub-grantees may provide in-home weatherization for all homes regardless of household member’s risk status. Currently CAGI is providing weatherization services for all homes in the following Counties: Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, and Boone.

Weatherization is always accepting applications through the energy assistance program or by an application provided at the CAGI location at 3266 N Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
